In Memoriam …

Dee Delk Johnson, 91, passed away at Gila Regional Medical Center on March 9, 2015, after a brief illness. Dee was born to George Delk and Annie Flury Delk at the family ranch near Santa Rita, New Mexico on July 23, 1923. She attended both New Mexico Western State Teachers College and New Mexico A&M (now NMSU) where she was a cheerleader. Dee married her husband Clint Johnson Jr. after his return from WWII and had one daughter.Read the rest

 

In Memoriam …

Wendell Best, 82, Elida, was born January 11, 1933, died February 10, 2015 at his home on the family ranch. He was born in Lamesa, Texas to the home of John Grady (Red) and Eula Faye (Reavis) Best. On December 29, 1952, Wendell married the love of his life, Joy Morgan in Portales. Wendell was a member of the Floyd Baptist Church. Red and Eula Best lived in Bledsoe, Texas, up until Wendell was 9. Wendell started cowboying at a young age and helped trail the cattle from Bledsoe to New Mexico.Read the rest

Carrol James “C.J.” Wood, 81, Alamogordo, passed away peacefully at his home on December 30, 2014. C.J. was born December 18, 1933, in his family home near Cloudcroft to Reuben and Mae Wood. He was raised in the Cloudcroft area and graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1951. During the Korean War, he served in the Navy until 1956. In 1954, he married his sweetheart Edna Eryl Dove. Their twin boys were born in 1955 while the couple was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas.… Read the rest
