For more than half a century, Livestock Market Digest has held the title of America’s most unique livestock publication. Launched in 1958 by the Livestock Marketing Association (LMA), headquartered in Kansas City, the Digest was created to fill a void in the livestock publication industry.  The LMA is the trade association representing America’s livestock marketing segment…auction markets and order buyers primarily…who work tirelessly to insure that markets for cattle, sheep, hogs and horses are fair, free and open.

The Digest was designed to represent the interests of buyers and sellers of livestock and as such, has gained a nationwide following as the voice of the industry.  The Digest quickly became the most widely circulated publication in the livestock industry.  In 1983 the LMA sold the publication to a private firm located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, headed up by renowned editor, reporter and industry observer, Lee Pitts.

Unique and Honest Reporting

The Digest, under Pitts’ editorship took on new life and became the most quoted and talked-about livestock paper industry history.  The Digest attracted more advertisers than ever because they quickly became aware that this newspaper was the best read communications medium in the industry and that stockmen relied on this paper to tell the story behind the story.

Lee Pitts is still at work, uncovering the issues and reporting on the stories that affect the future of every stockman and the industry as a whole.  Livestock Market Digest remains today, the most cost-effective advertising buy in the industry.  It reaches thousands of rural households, primarily in the 17 western states, and most importantly, the Digest is read, from front page to last, by the country’s leading livestock producers.

A Perfect Fit for Your Marketing Program

If you sell products, services or seedstock to America’s livestock operators, the Digest is an invaluable tool to help you tell your story and increase your business.  Digest readers represent billions of dollars in business annually.

To reach grassroots stockmen through a publication they have followed loyally for more than 50 years, you can’t go wrong with an ad in the Digest.  Digest advertisers get results.
