Private Property Rights Expert to Speak in La Junta, CO Feb. 27th
Dr. Angus McIntosh, a private property rights expert, will be conducting a workshop at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 27, 2016 at the Otero Jr. College Banquet Room in La Junta, CO. Beverly Rave, former Colorado State Land Board Director, will also speak on issues such as the Walk In Legislation, that will potentially impact all State leases.
The workshop is free and is open to all United States ranchers. Increase your knowledge of what your private property rights are on USFS and BLM grazing allotments. Gain a deeper understanding of your property rights on deeded land and how the National Historic Preservation Act and Archaeological Protection Act are subject to those rights. Learn what issues could impact your State Land leases.
Keynote speaker, Dr. McIntosh, has over 16 years of federal service working throughout the Western States primarily for the United States Forest Service and the Natural Resource Conservation Service as a Range Conservationist and Rangeland Management Specialist. Now he is a sought after expert on private property rights, having conducted over 60 seminars and workshops on valuation of property rights in Western states on federal land/split-estate ranches.
Dr. McIntosh is admitted as an Expert Witness in the Federal Courts and has given expert testimony and reports in the Federal District Courts of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and the United States Court of Federal Claims. He has given testimony before the State Legislatures of Arizona, New Mexico, Montana and Nevada on Water Rights, Range Management and Federal Regulatory Impacts on Property Rights.
Beverly Rave was raised on her family’s Northwest Colorado ranch and has over 40 years experience in ranch management, lease management, private and federal land acquisitions, disposals and exchanges.
Rave worked as the Northwest District Manager for the Colorado State Land Board for 10 years, managing over 400,000 acres of state land with 450 leases, before moving to Denver to serve as the Field Operations Section Manager. There she managed seven District offices with oversight of about 3,000,000 surface acres with 3,500 leases and participated in the management of over 4,000,000 mineral acres of state land for over 8 years until her retirement in 2013.
Since retiring from the State Land Board, Beverly has been working as a consultant/advocate for farmers and ranchers in Colorado, particularly in matters associated with the State Land Board, BLM and USFS.
The workshop is sponsored by the Colorado Independent CattleGrowers Association and the Southeast Colorado Private Property Rights Council. Membership is not required.
