Frances Schultz Jennings, 96, Roswell, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at the family home January 31, 2016. She was born on March 29, 1919 in Stevenson, Alabama to Paul Gibbons Schultz and Fern Mitchell Schultz. The Schultz family along with life-long friend, Sallie Ann Austin, relocated from Stevenson to Roswell for a drier and healthier climate in 1926. James Arthur Laney, 38, Deming passed away on January 24, 2016. He was born December 26, 1977 in Truth or Consequences, lived in the Deming area most all his life and was affectionately known as “Jack Rabbit”. Kenneth Olwell “Sonny” Major, 89, a former resident of Belen, died on December 10, 2015 in Prescott, AZ. He was born on December 29, 1925 in Magdalena, NM, and was the fifth of eight children of Malcolm S. Major and Lily Field Major who were pioneer ranchers in NM and CO. In his preteen years, Kenneth was a jockey; riding race horses for his father in NM and CO and “Doc” Pardee at the AZ Biltmore Stables in Phoenix. James Craig “Jim” Ogden, Loving, passed away in his home on October 24, 2015 at 94. Born in Carlsbad in 1921, Jimmie Ogden, as family called him, was the son of Jay Reed Ogden and Pearl Birt Ogden. Trudy Cox Freeman, 67, a lifelong resident of Sierra County, died in Las Cruces on September 1, 2015. She was born on June 9, 1945 to Jan and Maxine (Davenport) Cox. Trudy worked on the Cox Ranch in Winston all of her life and was the best cowboy Jay and Russell ever had. She battled Multiple Sclerosis the last 24 years of her life and then was diagnosed with lung cancer in the end. She wouldn’t smoke a cigarette or drink a beer for a million dollars.… Read the rest
